Local driving information

By car the easiest way is to take the main road 71. If you’re coming from Budapest, you can use the motorway M7 (until the exit by the kilometre-sign 90, towards Balatonfüred). The distance from Budapest to Balatonfüred is 130 kms. Please note that at all motorways (M1-M7) you have to buy a vignette sold at petrol stations.
There is a fast growing highway network in Hungary (1,480 km in total). Each highway starts at Budapest. These are the most useful motorways:

M1 - connection to Győr, Austria and Slovakia (west)

M2 - connection to Vác, planned to reach the border to Slovakia by 2015 (north)

M3/M30/M35 - connection to Miskolc, Debrecen and Nyíregyháza (east)

M5 - connection to Serbia, via Kecskemét and Szeged (south-east)

M6/M60 - Connection to Dunaújváros and Pécs (south)

M7/M70 - connection to Lake Balaton, Croatia and Slovenia (south-west)

By plane: the main international airport of Hungary is Budapest Ferihegy International Airport, which operates flights to a large number of European destinations. The airport is quite far from the city center.
You have to take a bus from the airport to Déli pályaudvar – South Railway Station from all the trains to Balatonfüred start.

Insurance Requirements

Third party liability insurance: € 1,000,000 EUR. Proof will be required at registration.

The inaugural 2010 regatta was a great success, attracting 74 sailors from 9 Laser districts.

About Balatonfüred
Balatonfüred is a popular resort town on the north shore of the Balaton Lake. Superb water quality and temperatures above 20 degrees celsius from May to September make this is a beautiful spot for sailing. Frequent low pressure weather systems moving into the Carpatian Basin produce strong north westerly winds which blow for three days. Before such a weather change a southerly wind blows for one day. On sunny and quiet days there is a light thermal breeze from the East which gradually moves towards the Southeast and South.
